Two Coalition MPs endorse more integrity in road funding

Two frontbenchers from country Victoria have backed the AAA’s My Safety Counts campaign, which calls on federal election candidates to commit to using safety ratings on individual roads to direct road funding to projects that can save the most lives.

Liberal Dan Tehan, who represents the seat of Wannon, became the first Coalition MP to back the campaign yesterday.

Mr Tehan, the Shadow Minister for Immigration and Citizenship, is a longstanding advocate for rural and regional road safety and integrity in road funding.

Nationals MP Anne Webster, whose seat of Mallee sits directly north of Wannon, told the AAA today she would be pleased to endorse the campaign.

Ms Webster is also the Shadow Assistant Minister for Regional Health.

They join Melbourne Independent Dr Monique Ryan and ACT Senator David Pocock as campaign supporters.
