F3 Extension Will Improve Congestion
The peak national motoring and mobility organisation, the Australian Automobile Association (AAA), has welcomed as a positive step forward the news that both Federal Labor and the Coalition are progressing plans to extend the F3 to the M2.
"This project is essential to ease congestion and improve productivity in Sydney," AAA Executive Director Andrew McKellar said.
The New South Wales and Federal Governments have revealed they are progressing plans to finalise the key transport link and the Federal Opposition has today committed to build the essential infrastructure upgrade if elected to government.
"The successful completion of this transport link will be welcome news for people in Sydney, the Central Coast and Newcastle," he said.
"We welcome the support but it is essential that both sides of politics show how they propose to the fund the improvements."
The AAA, and its member clubs, launched the Demand Better Roads campaign last month to identify key projects in each state which are aimed at easing congestion and improving safety.
"The F3 extension is one of the top five priority projects identified in New South Wales with both the West Connex and Pacific Highway also receiving recent commitments for funding," Mr McKellar said.
"It is clear that stronger investment in transport infrastructure will be a major issue that will help decide votes this federal election," he said.
"I urge all Australians to ask politicians if they have a plan to improve road congestions and safety," Mr McKellar said.
