Don’t Get Caught Out At The Pump This Easter

Service stations are being placed on-notice this Easter long weekend, with the Australian Automobile Association (AAA) warning they will be monitoring prices closely to ensure motorists are not being ripped off.

"Petrol prices have spiked in the past few days in the eastern state capitals so we should be seeing prices continuing to fall in the next few days," AAA Executive Director Andrew McKellar said.

"There is no excuse for high prices over the long weekend and anyone paying more than $1.60 is paying too much and even if you see unleaded listed at $1.55 then you should shop around," he said.

"The AAA will be monitoring the retail margins over the Easter period and will be making public any changes in the fuel cycle,"

"Motorists should be sensible when filling up this weekend and shop around for the best deal by looking at the state motoring club websites,"

"And if you think the price is too high and you desperately need fuel, then just 'top up' with what you absolutely need and fill up when the price falls," Mr McKellar said.
