AAA Director Technical Services Appointment
Australia’s peak motoring body – the Australian Automobile Association – today announced the appointment of its new Director of Technical Services, Craig Newland.
Mr Newland comes into the position from a senior role with Vehicle Safety Standards Branch at the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government.
AAA Executive Director, Mike Harris, said Mr Newland brought a wealth of experience and expertise to the AAA in the important Technical Services portfolio.
“The provision of timely and relevant technical information to our motoring clubs and their members is a core activity,” Mr Harris said.
“AAA has been well served in this area and Craig will continue to maintain those high standards in important areas such as safety standards and regulations, engineering and performance standards, environmental issues and technological advances.
“He will also have carriage of major AAA motoring club programs and activities such as Australia’s Best Cars, the Australian Road Patrol Skills Showcase, vehicle design and road transport regulations.
“Craig has a strong background in these areas, having worked in the public sector and the automotive industry – we welcome him and are confident he will continue to deliver the high quality service.”
Mr Newland takes up his position Monday 2 June. He replaces former Technical Services Director, James Hurnall.
